Rivers State is one of the 36 states in the federation of Nigeria. As at 2006, the state has a population of 6,000,400, making it the 6th most populated state in the nation. Its capital, Port Harcourt is the biggest city and is financially huge as the focal point of Nigeria's oil industry.
